Our mission is simple

We work to improve the function and quality of life of the children we serve.

Our story

Established in 2013, we were looking to break out of the standard clinic environment model of pediatric physical therapy. Early beginnings were relationships with local gymnastics gyms where physical therapy sessions were held.

Over the years, as our gym locations increased and aquatic therapy was added to our services, we worked toward a goal of having our own space. Now, over a decade later, we operate solely out of our awesome Big Gym, and a community aquatic center.

Our founders

Renee Maddux, PT

Renee has a B.A. in Communication from Purdue University and a M.A. in Communication from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She has a Master of Physical Therapy degree from Emory University. After working in the adult physical therapy world for several years, Renee moved into pediatrics in 2000 and has been there ever since. She and Kelley founded Big Gym Therapy together in 2013.

Kelley Mitchell, PT

Kelley Mitchell received her Bachelor of Arts in Health and Exercise Science from Furman University and her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Georgia State University. Kelley's past professional experience includes a start in Inpatient Rehab followed by many years in various pediatric settings, her favorite being Big Gym Therapy.
